This year, Microsoft is going to introduce to the business world a new Publisher Program. This program will help enhance our Dynamics 365 Business Central ISV approach to support a cloud-first strategy. All those who are new to this SaaS ERP by Microsoft or upgrading from NAV to Business Central will have an improved approach. Also, it will help them find the right applications on Microsoft AppSource to meet their unique requirements.
SPOTLIGHT
This new Publisher Program would require ISVs to have a cloud-first strategy by the end of 2022 so that they can list their solutions as Microsoft AppSource applications. This program will replace the decade-long Registered Solution Program (RSP) and the Certified for Microsoft Dynamics (CfMD) program.
Guidelines to Ensure Transition with D365 Business Central Publisher Program
- A cloud-first strategy is the primary requirement for publishers to set up for success.
- ISVs will have to convert their existing C/AL solutions into AL and full extensions. They need to publish those Apps to Microsoft AppSource as well.
- Publishers can quickly adapt to the transition and focus more on their prospects and customers.
- Businesses can serve their customers better by bringing NAV or Dynamics 365 Business Central code-customized solutions into Microsoft AppSource.
Just like the RSP and CfMD programs, this newly designed Publisher program will help drive customer-obsession behavior and promote a cloud-first strategy for publishers. Microsoft aims at ensuring cloud deployments by the customers without any exception. Also, this change conveys that publishers will be sharing responsibility with their resellers to only resell cloud-first solutions to new customers.
However, it negates the ideology that publishers are required to have a cloud-only approach. Partners complying with the cloud-first approach would be easily implementing Business Central online, on-premises, and partner-hosted applications as well.
To remain competitive, relevant, and provide digital transformation strategies to customers, embarking on a modernization journey is indispensable. And, Business Central Publisher Program for 2021 is inventively designed to revamp the approach and aggrandize business transition to the cloud without a hitch. A brief of this program will be shared in the coming letters.
